Daredevil TV show
As a fan of the punisher, i was freaking delighted to hear that Joss Whedon, the enemy of cinema and television, didn't like the daredevil show. This means that he won't be anywhere near the show, and thus, won't write any dialogue or story arcs for the punisher. I hope he continues to not be interested in the show, so that daredevil and punisher can continue to be crappy-dialouge free.

When I watch his shows or movies, I wonder if his greatest directorial influences were Riptide, MacGuyver, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Sea Quest and Simon and Simon. Maybe a little 8 is Enough influence in there too.

Just Heard on TV
"Joss Whedon and William Shakespeare are a match made in heaven."
If that's the case, then we're all in Hell, and Shakespeare is most certainly spinning in his grave from horror. Current Mood: distressed

In All Fairness
Hola! First-time poster here, but longtime anti-admirer of Whedon's work. I just wanted to pop in and make an observation.
I really think that I wouldn't dislike Whedon nearly as much, if his fans were total asshats. If anyone says anything remotely derogatory about him, they go for the throat like someone has written naughty things about their mum on the wall of a public bathroom. Get a grip, people! Get over that not everyone is going to piss their pants when they see Whedon's name on something.

Your friendly moderator here.
It's refreshing to see most of you still are members & you know what, it's even refreshing to see that it's fairly quiet over here. This means we have lives & we don't have to sit around & bitch about something we barely pay attention to anyway. That's healthy. :)
I randomly ran across this article from last October: "5 Reasons It Sucks Being A Joss Whedon Fan." Cracked.com is pretty hit & miss, but this one is right on. It's even written by someone proclaiming to be a fan, but they clearly have a much more objective view than all those rabid fans we know & can't stand. And it pretty much explains why Whedonites are so crazy for being so rabid.
You know how despite a dog's keen sense of smell & even though he's otherwise well fed, he'll still eat cat shit as if it were the best tasting thing ever? That's what it reminds me of. Whedon says: Here's some crap. There are much better things you could be watching, but I'll give you crap.
And the Whedonites say: Oh, awesome, thank you, you're the best, your stuff is the best! *grovel*grovel*
While everyone else looks at it & asks: Why do you like it so much? It's crap. He's feeding you crap!
Anyway, here's the link. Enjoy.http://www.cracked.com/article/166_5-reasons-it-sucks-being-joss-whedon-fan/

RE: Whedon's God-Like Status
Was going to make this a reply, but I thought I'd post this as a main entry.
I understand! And these are generally the same people who ascribed Lucas god-like status, but when they thought he was "ruining" Star Wars just because they didn't like where it was going w/ it, they became a bunch of pissy ninnies. Then, despite the fact that Star Wars is Lucas' baby, some of them even had the gall to suggest that Peter Jackson take it over.
So they threw Lucas of the pedestal *they* made & replaced him w/ Whedon...even made shirts saying "Joss Whedon Is My Master Now." Which I suppose they think will hurt the feelings of Lucas & those who still appreciate Star Wars for what it is. Instead it just shows how fickle & asinine they are.

What a shame there aren't more posts. I've been looking far and wide for an anti-Buffy community, and happened across this. I have to say I've watched a great deal of Buffy for a teleplay and film class, which I now regret signing up for because instead of analyzing a lot of more fascinating teleplays, we spent the entire time watching episodes of Buffy *rolls eyes* and "analyzing" them for content. Of course, since our professor was an extreme left-win liberal, he saw racism, sexism, etc in just about everything. Wonderful.
You know what would be amusing, if someone MST'd a couple of Buffy episodes. Because myself and my roommate (possibly the only two people who abhorred the show) couldn't stop making cracks at the crappy dialogue and even more more crappy "love" scenes. People were moved to tears by Buffy killing Angel at the end of that season? Please. I've seen more emo stuff on a wangsty little 12-yr-old goth wannabe's myspace site.
And while I haven't seen Firefly, I have seen Serenity (was dragged along by a couple of friends, and didn't know a thing about the show). And I just have to say that, if only for completely SLAUGHTERING the Chinese language, it deserves a place in the deepest pits of television hell.
In sum, I have yet to witness a redeeming show by Joss Whedon. I can't believe there are actual literary papers and conferences for Buffy...when there are so many more, better teleplays out there that deserve attention. Current Mood: irritated
